Enter this Buffalo Chicken Dip recipe. It is simple to prepare, and much easier to make that a batch of wings. You get all of the amazing tang and heat of the buffalo wings (including the amazing flavor), without all of the prep work or the mess and coinciding clean up! This whole dish prepares in one pan alone, your trusty skillet. Make sure you try my Skillet Onion Dip for another dip you can bake in your cast-iron dishware!Buffalo Chicken Dip RecipeFor this recipe, all you need your trusty large cast iron skillet. I would go with at least a 12 inch for this recipe since it makes quite a bit. If you want to skip the skillet, you can always try my crockpot buffalo chicken dip too!The ingredients are a simple and perfect combination of cooked chicken, cream and cheddar cheeses, buffalo sauce, dry ranch dressing mix, and garlic powder.I am a HUGE fan of serving this Buffalo Chicken Dip with blue cheese. Try sprinkling it with Blue Cheese crumbles or simply pouring some dressing right over the dip. Just be mindful that the dressing is cool and the dip is hot, so you will want to make sure it is being served and eaten right away.How to Make Buffalo Chicken DipTo make this Skillet Buffalo Chicken Dip recipe start with a large cast iron skillet. Melt the butter and then add the chicken and the buffalo sauce. I like to cube it before it cooks, but if you prefer your chicken shredded, you can do that too. You can also marinate the chicken in the buffalo sauce for a little extra buffalo flavor. Once the chicken is cooked through, add the cream cheese, the dry ranch seasoning, the garlic powder, and the shredded cheese. Stir to combine. Note: Using room temperature cream cheese that is cubed helps to ensure that everything combines easily.Transfer the skillet to the oven (on broil). The dip is ready when the cheese is hot and bubbly. This is usually achieved after about 5-7 minutes. Remove it from the oven, stir and top with blue cheese crumbles. This last step is optional, I know there is a line between those that love blue cheese and those that hate it.That’s it, grab some tortilla chips and dip right into the skillet! This stuff goes pretty fast, but if it does end up sitting out for a while, you can always pop it back into the oven for a few more minutes and it will be as good as new.Hot Sauce Versus Buffalo SauceThe first time I ever tried to make Buffalo Chicken Dip I didn’t have any Buffalo Sauce on hand and thought it would be ok to substitute hot sauce. IT WAS NOT OK. There is a very big difference between the two so make sure you using buffalo sauce. Hot sauce is made with hot peppers and vinegar. Buffalo sauce, uses hot sauce as the base but calms it down with butter and garlic. It’s still spicy, but far less intense.These two sauces should NOT be used interchangeably in recipes.How to Serve Skillet Buffalo Chicken DipThis dip is best served hot! (Which is why I love it in a skillet because cast iron skillet’s retain heat better). If you are having a party and the dip has been out for a while, just pop it back in the oven for a bit to re-heat.
