IDC: Global Smartphone Shipments Will Fall 2.2% This Year
Research company IDC expects global smartphone shipments to decline by 2.2% in 2019, but will rebound in 2020, with shipments up 1.6% year-on-year. This is mainly due to the gradual commercialization of 5G networks. IDC said that the gradual popularization of 5G networks is a glimmer of hope for the global smartphone market to rebound.
IDC said that due to the lack of 5G mobile phones, coupled with the increasingly saturated market, Apple’s global market share will decline this year. But with the launch of the 5G iPhone in 2020, Apple shipments will rebound.
