Huawei Ranked Second In The Global Smartphone Market In Q2 Of 2019
According to the latest data released by global market research institute IHS Markit, in the second quarter of 2019. China’s Huawei mobile phone ranked second in the global smartphone market with 18% share. China’s other mobile phone brand OPPO surpassed US Apple mobile phone in third place. In the second quarter of 2019, China’s smartphone brands accounted for 42% of the global market share, showing strong competitiveness.
According to the latest data, global smartphone shipments fell for the seventh consecutive quarter, and shipments in the second quarter of 2019 fell to 331.2 million units, down 3.6% year-on-year.
According to the Beijing Business Daily, in the smartphone market in Southeast Asia, Chinese brands OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme and Huawei shipped 19 million units in the second quarter, accounting for 62% of the region, up from 50% in the same period last year.
“Southeast Asia is very popular with new brands because the chances of success are higher than in other parts of the world,” said Matthew Xie, an analyst at market research firm Canalis. “75% of shipments include models below $200. The market here is mainly focused on low-end smartphones, which is a low-brand loyalty area.”
